The New Colombo Plan (NCP) scholarship program is a signature initiative of the Australian Government which aims to lift knowledge of the Indo-Pacific in Australia by supporting Australian undergraduates to study and undertake internships in the region.
The NCP scholarship program is intended to be transformational, deepening Australia’s relationships in the region, both at the individual level and through expanding university, business and other stakeholder links.
Internships and mentorships are hallmarks of the Plan and the NCP Internship and Mentorship Network connects private-sector organisations looking for outstanding talent and NCP students seeking a rewarding and challenging workplace experience in the Indo-Pacific to complement their formal studies. As a registered NCP Internship and Mentorship Network member, private-sector organisations can access a diverse talent pool and support students in obtaining professional experience in the region, while universities and NCP students can access the internship and mentorship opportunities made available by registered organisations.
Scope Global is contracted by the Australian Government to provide post-selection support services to the scholars. In delivering these services, Scope Global works in partnership with the Department of Education and Training and the NCP Secretariat and in cooperation with home and host institutions and other agencies to support a personally and professionally rewarding experience for the scholars.
Services provided include pre-departure assistance, ongoing support while in country, and assistance with departure back to Australia, debrief and exit. Scope Global provides support services to approximately 100 scholars per year.
