Council on Australia Latin America Relations Executive Awards
Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Department of Education and Training
Years active: 2009 – 2011
The Council of Australia Latin America Relations Executive Awards was an internationally competitive, merit-based scholarship program that brought leading researchers, executives and students from Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Mexico to Australia to undertake short term study, research and professional development in a broad range of disciplines.
The Executive Awards provided funding for professional development opportunities for high achievers in business, industry, education or government. They focused on building skills and knowledge through a host work organisation rather than through formal enrolment in a study program.
The awards were funded by the Department of Education and Training and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, with an objective to strengthen relations between Australia and Latin America.
Scope Global was appointed to manage post-selection support and administrative services for the program comprised of the following five phases: program establishment; marketing and selection; preliminary advice and guidance; ongoing support; and departure, debrief and exit.
All awardees reported that their award experience advanced their professional and personal goals and increased, or had the potential to increase linkages, networks and engagement between Australia and Latin America. Host organisations also reported that their linkages and relationships with Latin America were enhanced as a result of the program.
