What’s new? Sri Lanka Skills for Inclusive Growth Program

16 January 2017

We’re pleased to announce that Scope Global has been selected to manage and implement the Sri Lanka Skills for Inclusive Growth program on behalf of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

Through Skills for Inclusive Growth, Australia will provide support over four years to strengthen Sri Lanka’s tourism sector through training and mentoring for employees and small businesses.

Australia’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Bryce Hutchesson and Sri Lankan Minister for Skills Development and Vocational Training, Hon. Mahinda Samarasinghe, officially launched the program in Colombo last week (pictured).

Skills for Inclusive Growth will benefit local communities and businesses with an initial focus in Sri Lanka’s Ampara, Batticaloa, Trincomalee and Polonnaruwa districts. The program will prioritise the underemployed, particularly local women, youth and people with a disability. It will support the full value chain of the tourism sector – for example, food suppliers, hospitality trainers, artisans, surf instructors, spa owners, accommodation providers, taxi drivers – as well as district planners, park rangers, industry regulators and business chambers.

We look forward to collaborating with DFAT and the Sri Lankan Ministry of Skills Development and Vocational Training on this exciting initiative.
